The story below has led me to be a spiritual companion and life coach. If you’re reading this, here is our connection.
In 2018, after coming out of a dark night of the soul, I entered spiritual companioning/direction training. This started me on a journey of healing, that I want to share with those who are experiencing similar paths and have a need for discernment. My moral injury occurred around my military service. Eventually this evolved into helping others who wanted to live from their core beliefs and being. In 2005, I started life coach training and have subsequently been a life coach. What I have come to understand is that spirit must be an equal part of our explorations.
There was always a driving nature to be settled, comfortable as my true spiritual self, not someone else’s expectations for me. This was helped by all my military experiences, the birth of and raising of my child, living with my wife’s multiple sclerosis and working from home that brought me to the place of recognizing moral injury and lack of discernment is what keeps so many living inside a cage not of their making.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Divinity in interreligious Chaplaincy. This is giving me a broad understanding of how to tend to an individual’s spiritual needs; to be well rounded, to work with all types of people from Buddhist to Christian to Atheist. The training in coaching and spiritual companioning and formal education in chaplaincy prepares me to meet those in need especially those dealing with moral injury.
